BBR Implant

A BBR (Black Box Recorder) implant is a Special Technology Unit (BRL-17) developed implant that records and transmits personnel vital signs. For example, a BBR implant can provide information about the exact position and status of a missing individual, or determine the circumstances of a death. At Raven, BBR implants are issued to military personnel, personnel with frequent Topside access and other high-risk individuals.

There are multiple BBR variants; one designed for organics, and one for synthetics. The former monitors biological vital signs (such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and EEG activity), while the latter connects to a synth’s internal telemetry bus and reports the status of each critical subsystem. For organics, BBR implants are usually installed at the neck and the installation can be easily accomplished in seconds using a jet injector.
