FITNESS FOR DUTY
At 13:31 UTC on 3 July 2177, it was determined that a licensed individual with Control Deck access failed a standard Fitness for Duty (FFD) test as set out under RSP 1.5.1.7. The individual’s access to critical areas has been revoked pending RCON investigatory outcome. Full details of the incident are set out in the official report delivered via SLIA.
REALITY CONTROL ENFORCEMENT
Based on SIO-provided intelligence, RCON Investigation identified PROF MARLIN VICKERS, a Professor of Dimensional Physics at the University of Montana, as being in possession of a computing device designed or intended to calculate dimensional targeting parameters, prohibited under Section 21.1.2(c) of the Dimensional Security Accords. The target possessed no active RML at the time of the investigation.
On Jun 13 2210 at 03:13 AM local time, RCON Enforcement officers made an unscheduled entry to the target’s residence. The device, a CORE Infosystems-branded quantum computer identified as belonging to the university’s physics department, was secured in the target’s garage and subsequently destroyed on-site. This device had contained a crudely written program intended to implement a compute-optimised variant of T-space targeting.
The target was taken into custody and interrogated at Seeley Lake AFB. Enhanced interrogation procedures were not deemed necessary, and the target's disclosure of the source of the restricted algorithmic information was consistent with the intelligence provided by the SIO. On Jun 16 2210 at 07:13 AM local time, the target was released to local authorities pending prosecution. Recommended charges are set out as follows per guidelines.
Recommended charges:
- 1 count of unlicensed possession of a computing device designed or intended to calculate dimensional targeting parameters (DSA Section 21.1.2(c))
- 2 counts of unlicensed possession of restricted information (DSA Section 17.1.1(b))
The University of Montana holds a DRA with Raven. Due to various factors, including Prof. Vickers' dismissal from the University, the reasserted security of restricted assets, and the University's importance to the national exophysics community, the decision has been made not to revoke the University's DRA at this time. A formal warning has been issued.
I live a few houses down from Prof. Vickers. We all thought he was a charming old fellow. Nobody questioned that assumption until the armoured trucks started rolling up at the crack of dawn.
I still remember that day. The massive combat drones buzzing overhead like angry mosquitos. The thudding of metal boots on the ground. The soldiers shouting at everyone with instructions to remain indoors. And Vickers being led away in cuffs.
I haven’t seen him since, but a friend at the university says he’s facing real jail time. Federal time. And the house’s gone up for sale. The kicker? They prosecuted him for a garage project. Apparently they made curiosity a crime.up for sale.
