Facility Director (IRTO)

Facility Director (commonly shortened to just "Director") is a senior command position at IRTO bridge laboratories. Facility directors are responsible for both the operational and strategic direction of the entire facility, from everything from safety and security oversight to personnel wellbeing, systems maintenance, outreach, experimental direction, efficacy, and ethics, and the facility budget. Ultimately, everything that happens at their facility is accountable to them, and they are bound by a duty of responsibility under the Dimensional Security Accords. They are the only command individual apart from the Chief Science Officer who is required by regulatory law to hold a Reality Manipulation License.

Usually, facility directors are elected to be promoted from Chief Science Officer positions after 6-7 years of service. They undergo an intense period of training in leadership and crisis management, which takes around 2-3 years. A Senior Facility Director is a facility director who has rendered exceptional service for a lengthy period of time; they usually staff IRTO's largest and most advanced bridge laboratories, and lead the training of new leadership staff.
