EXPERIMENT LOG
Bridge window opened as scheduled at 16:33 hours on 7 Jan 2155. The bridge was successfully struck with a 1.26PW pulse. After confirmation of the Riemennian parameters, targeting commenced and Kähler acquisition completed at approximately 16:36 hours. The entry manifold was subsequently expanded to a diameter of 160mm inside the containment field.
At 16:38:26, EDR-1 was transported through the RC airlock and made entry via the threshold. At 16:39:38, power injection was cut as per standard efficiency protocols. Full power was restored at 16:44:21 for the probe’s scheduled return. At 16:44:43, main bridge power was cut as per standard shutdown sequence.
PROBE DATA REVIEW
Probe sensors reported an atmospheric composition of 61.3% gaseous tungsten, 21.4% gaseous tin, 11.2% nitrogen, and 6.1% unidentified compounds. Average temperatures ranged from 7127.12K to 7595.15K. Atmospheric pressure was approximately 563.42kPa. Measured gravitational field was approximately 16.21m/s. A weak entropic radiation field of 63 mRn/s was detected.
HIGH-LEVEL REVIEW
The majority of the atmospheric composition is to be expected for a dimension this distal. However, the unidentified atmospheric components, after further analysis in isolation, appear to be galraite decay products. Together with the e-rad field, this suggests potentially active galraite-based technology in the dimension, or even galraite-based life. For this reason, a secondary survey is recommended to be conducted as soon as reasonably practicable with a Class-II drone. The risk profile should be discussed at length with RCON before proceeding.
OVERSIGHT REVIEW
The experiment’s goals were to achieve penetration of a dimension at the 10^16 strata level in close proximity to VEL 12, a high-density CNE, and recover meaningful scientific data. In this I am satisfied this goal has been achieved. The IRTO EAB will convene in due course to discuss whether funding of the secondary phase is warranted.
EXPEDITION DATA REVIEW
The dimension appears to house a seemingly endless amount of carbon-based biological matter, interconnected to form one organism. Cells are almost identical to those found in Sol biology.
“Have you heard about the Flesh Dimension?”
“Huh?”
“Yeah, it’s a dimension made of flesh. We sent the first probes through a few weeks ago. Gosh, it’s so cool! I never thought we’d find something like this!”
“…Cool? You think that’s cool? I wish we weren’t touching anything like this with a ten foot pole. One mistake and it’ll be Rosenberg all over again. And two weeks? Why are you only telling me this now?”
“Well, it was still classified until yesterday! But anyway, if Raven says it’s safe, it’s safe. The whole bridge room’s BSL-6. We’ve got GRID irradiators, toxin systems, and the FTS as a last resort. Besides, the biologists are already saying the organism doesn’t grow anything like the Grey Mold did.”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it. Doesn’t mean I feel fine.”
“The project’s been gaining some serious attention. Looking like the TSRC’s gonna be booked out for the next six months at least, which suits me.”
“Who’s funding it? Let me guess, BioCorp?”
“Doesn’t matter who! The main thing is we’ve got it secured. And we’ll have plenty of time to figure out the real secrets this place holds.”
