The Compliance & Legal division of Raven is an in-house legal department responsible for all of Raven's legal affairs. It is responsible for furthering Raven's mission by ensuring its cases in public courts progress smoothly, and is also responsible for all liaison with public judiciary systems in the prosecution of violators of the Dimensional Security Accords. It also handles a number of mundane, but necessary, tasks; including the protection of Raven's unclassified intellectual property, and handling certain violations of secrecy. It is known to employ some of the most skilled lawyers in the world.
Divisions
Contracts and Procurement
Contracts and Procurement is responsible for entering of the organisation into legal contracts with external parties, as well as the obtaining of goods and services. It is a significant point of engagement for Raven’s contractors, and any entity that holds a General Services Agreement with Raven. Such agreements are managed by this division.
Litigation
Litigation is one of the largest and most complex divisions of Compliance & Legal, responsible for managing the organisation’s interactions with national and supranational court systems; both defending and advocating for the organisation in lawsuits. Litigation has a tendency to drag out cases even if they appear baseless in order to starve targets of funding, and also to appease the Coalition when it wants Raven to take action. Such complex cases have resulted in the construction of entirely new courtrooms just for Raven’s cases to take place.
O&T Advisory
O&T Advisory is the most secretive division of Compliance & Legal, where the O&T stands for Operational & Tactical. O&T supports parts of the organisation such as Reality Control Enforcement, DIRE, Calamity Mitigation, and the Strategic Intelligence Office in order to ensure it is protected from any legal blowback from operational activities. It is also engaged live during high-risk tactical operations to provide down to the second legal advice as circumstances change.
