Pulsed Phase Array

A pulsed phase array is a system that negates impacts by rapidly changing, or phasing, between several dimensions at once. As it only swaps using dimensions that are stratically "near" to the current dimension, it does not require the demanding energy requirements or the complex targeting systems of bridge generators, and can run off fission batteries for integration into exosuits or military synth frames. The technology was originally developed by Metatron.

Pulsed phase array systems are highly effective in defending against hypervelocity kinetic impacts or energy bursts that would otherwise overwhelm forcefield shielding, such as nuclear railguns or the Phantom Hammer, but are ineffective against exophysical weaponry like Excision, as they by nature pass through all dimensions at once.

Hazards

Overuse of pulsed phase array systems can result in substratic fracturing of the operator's consciousness, leading to hallucinations, and eventually destruction of the delegation link between their consciousness and their body, leading to substratic severance. For this reason, safety limits are placed on on/off windows. Systems also incorporate a failsafe mechanism to immediately bring the system back to its original dimension if a power failure occurs; damage to this mechanism can result in an operator becoming stuck in a stratically near dimension, often without their knowledge.
