Interdiction Field

An interdiction field is a particle-based IFF and active area denial system which, as opposed to forcefield technology, is intended to counter threats that have already made it inside the secure perimeter. Interdiction systems effectively combine a sensor array with a defensive particle-based energy weapon in one package. If it detects a target that is not responsive to an actively sent IFF packet, they neutralise it via intense particle bombardment, usually resulting in the immediate destruction of the target unless it has a defensive forcefield of its own. Interdiction technology was first developed by Metatron; the most popular brand of system is Metatron's Interdiction Matrix.
