A Personnel Profile Notice (PPN) is a flag placed by Internal Security (INTSEC) on the personnel file of an individual, which determines how they are to be handled. They may or may not be visible outside INTSEC depending on the type.

Types of PPN:

  • Formal Psychological Investigation (FPI)
  • Behavioural Investigation (BI) - concerning anomalous behaviour reported or detected. Different from a FPI as the behaviour may also be the result of a compromised individual.
  • Counterintelligence Investigation (CI) - concerning counterintelligence investigations currently underway against an individual by IS
  • Special Investigation (SI) - most secret investigatory flag, used in relation to sensitive INTSEC investigations concerning internal politics and corruption. Only visible at the SIGMA level.
  • Area Block (AB) - individual is to temporarily be denied access to specific area(s) of the facility
  • Detain Order (DO) - individual is to be detained immediately and not granted access through any checkpoint. Attempt to pass through a checkpoint triggers alarms. This flag is also kept present on individuals currently under detention
  • Suspend Order (SO) - individual is suspended from all duties and confined to accommodation and recreation areas.

Note: There is no “kill order” equivalent on a PPN. If an individual is reclassified as an enemy combatant, they are given the DO flag and their signature is added to the IFF register of the facility’s fire control system, which is separate from the INTSEC system.
