The Steadfast

The Steadfast was a ferry that was owned by BioCorp and utilised for an unethical experiment that took place in the early 2030s. At the time, the company was attempting to develop a blanket cure for the common cold using adaptive immune technology. The experiment was advertised to members of the biohacking community, and participants would be paid for their time spent in isolation on the boat. The participants would be loaded onto the boat, inoculated with a modified coronavirus by staff with autoinjectors, and locked inside the biohazard area. The staff would then wait a day for symptoms to develop and administer the cure.

However, the experiment went severely wrong, as several participants worsened significantly to the point of death even after the cure was administered. BioCorp planned to sink the boat in order to cover up its failure as a tragic sea accident, but their action was foiled by a group of participants the cure had actually worked on who managed to break out of the biohazard area and seize control of the captain's deck.
