Neural Cleaver

From Calamity Wiki

Neural Cleaver is a line of neural engineering machines developed by BioCorp. Originally, the device was created as part of the Metamorph project, with the intent of acting to program newly constructed neural tissue. It first places the tissue in a spatial cell control based stasis field, then uses a monomolecular knife edge known as the Neural Blade to non-destructively slice it into layers, after which individual neurons are able to be directly accessed. After the machine performs its modifications, the layers are brought back together with molecular precision, and the bonds automatically reform. The visual design of the machine itself is a monument to industrial body horror, as is the custom with BioCorp products, and it presents as a massive stylised brain mounted to the ceiling with a descending implement and a terrifying blade on the end of it. The "brain" itself houses a wetware computer that performs computation for the neuronal modifications on the fly.

Via Neural Cleaver, it is possible to completely rewrite an individual's brain to any imaginable degree, including erasing memories, planting undetectable fake memories or replacing a personality entirely. BioCorp offers Neural Cleaver treatment as part of the Metamorph product line it markets to consumers, advertising a way to remove unwanted traumas or thoughts. Raven has historically been implicated in controversy after true rumours emerged that it was utilising Neural Cleaver to mind-wipe organic ex-employees; because of this, and a general growing desire to reduce reliance on BioCorp products, Raven now utilises Class A infohazards in a visual feedback loop to perform a selective mind wipe.
