Document:DMS Control Panels

From Calamity Wiki

The following is an outline of the Dead Man's System (DMS) master control panel (MCP), from left to right. The layout is mirrored exactly in both DMS vaults.

Panels

Warhead Panel

The Warhead panel displays status information about the annihilation warhead groups in the facility, and allows them to be controlled. Note that there is control overlap between the two DMS vaults, i.e. Vault 1 can control groups Alpha and Beta, while Vault 2 can control groups Beta and Charlie, but both vaults can view the status of all three groups.

The Inhibit Select switch row allows the warhead groups to be prevented from arming. For the FTS to fully arm all warheads must transition into the armed state and not be blocked by an inhibit. The Timer Monitoring row includes timers for all three groups, monitoring their independent countdowns (when active). The Battery Monitoring row displays the status of the internal batteries of the warheads themselves.

Power Supply Panel

The Power Supply panel manages the power supply for the DMS vault. The Redundant PSU Bus Select switches allow the power bus to be overridden to one of three in an emergency, while the Bus Voltage displays the status of each bus. The Emergency Generator section allows the control of the emergency backup generator within the bunker and its automatic start.

Atmospherics Panel

The Atmospherics panel controls life support within the bunker, and allows the monitoring and control of pressurisation, as well as the oxygen generators and CO2 scrubbers.

Physical Security Panel

The Physical Security panel displays the status of the physical security alarms around the bunker as well as the facility itself as well as the defence systems protecting the bunker, including the main blast door, the perimeter forcefields and fractal armour plates. It allows individual alarms to be inhibited and there is a panel to run diagnostics on individual sensors.

DMS Control Panel

The DMS Control panel is where the dead man's switch and bracelet connects. It concerns the automatic activation of the weapon system via the WSC if the DMS officer becomes incapacitated. The Coop Inhibit Switch is a spring-loaded keyswitch that is used when rotating DMS officers, and allows the bracelet to be detached and swapped out. The Remote Override Select switch allows this inhibition process to be performed manually by Raven if necessary, but the switch must physically be flipped before this is possible.

Weapon System Controller Panel

The Weapon System Controller panel is the interface to the computer (the weapon system controller) that manages the automatic arming, disarming, and triggering of the warheads as a function of the wider FTS. It includes a diagnostics interface, keyboard, keycode entry panel, redundant CPU select override switch, and battle short select switch.

Closeout Communications System Panel

The Closeout Communications System panel monitors the connection between the FTS and the Closeout Communications System (CCS) which is Raven's direct physical link to the facility. It also allows the operator to talk directly to Raven at Black Mountain in the case of an emergency. It includes the CCS Local Comms Interface, Data Bus Select, Circuit Select, and Incoming Authentication Code Display.
