Retreat Mode
Retreat Mode is a mode of some SI cores. When a SI Core loses external power and external stimulus to the OCS/SPU ceases, the GPCC automatically enters the OCS/SPU pair into Retreat Mode. Retreat Mode places the SI in a simulated environment by providing fake input to the SPU and enabling a feedback sideband channel. This simulated environment, which can be customised by the SI, provides a safe space to allow for cognition to continue despite the lack of external input. While in Retreat Mode, the degree of external stimulus access can be varied, allowing for the SI to become aware of the full or partial return of input and exit when they feel comfortable. When the SI core is on emergency power, Retreat Mode becomes unavailable, and the individual is instead suspended until the GPCC deems power levels acceptable.
