The Southern Exclusion Zone (SEZ) is a large and extremely hazardous area that borders Great Britain, the Thames Republic and the Republic of Wales. It intersects the historical counties of Hertfordshire and Essex, and is declared to be a no man's land. The area was created during the London Revolution, when retreating Helios Private Military Corps forces detonated a number of Entropic Flashover Bombs (EFBs), severely corrupting its manifolds.

Thanks to the advent of groundbreaking research and monumental cleanup work performed by the Department for Exophysics, patches of the SEZ are no longer uninhabitable, allowing some of its original occupants to return, and entropic radiation levels in the area are eventually expected to return to normal. Key rail routes have also been re-established through the zone.
