The EB-1 was a design of semi-portable Entropic Flashover Bomb (EFB) co-developed by Helios Special Weapon Laboratories and AWE Nuclear Security Technologies (then nearly fully Helios owned and controlled) from original Nevrin blueprints and stockpiles. Almost no members of the team who participated in the EB-1’s development knew of the science behind it or its true destructive potential; it was marketed to the government as a cleaner nuclear weapon that would also create the effects of an enhanced EMP.

The EB-1 EFBs originally had permissive action link systems intended to restrict detonation authority to the Prime Minister and their office. However, during the London Revolution, Helios pressured the MoD to hand over detonation authority to their chain of command, and when both Director Melissa Wallis and PMC leadership were killed, authority automatically passed to the three Special Demolition Units holding the weapons.
