Acid Mixer

From Calamity Wiki

Acid mixers, also known as catalytic exofluid regenerators, are devices used in the reprocessing of an exofluid in a closed-loop thermal energy transport system. The devices combine the exofluid with a catalyst that repairs molecular damage caused by the repetitive stress of the charge-discharge cycle, and performs flow balancing to ensure charge consistency across all charged particles in order to avoid dangerous cold or hotspots. The devices are named as such because of their original use in reprocessing the exofluid known as Red Acid, and this name continues to be utilised in the industry despite the more popular nature of other thermal exofluids. Acid mixers are commonly rackmount and use the Industrial Rack Mount (IRM) standard; an example of such is the K7600 Rackmount Acid Mixer.

It was once common for the front panels of acid mixers to feature multiple circular glass viewing windows divided into four sections that look directly into the mixers. This has been changed to a LED display in modern variants, simulating the physical spinning of the mixers without creating a dangerous weak point during an overpressure scenario.
