International borders
France also shares a border with the Netherlands on the island of Saint Martin / Sint Maarten. Saint Martin is part of France, and Sint Maarten is part of the Netherlands. [12 April 2025]
Regarding the national emblem
Why is there only a national flag and no national emblem? I saw it was there before. I think it should be added back, or perhaps France has abolished its national emblem? ~2026-11523-10 (talk) 06:56, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
- France does not have an official coat of arms = Coat of arms of France Moxy🍁 07:44, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
- There was a lengthy discussion on this recently here. Tepkunset (talk) 15:01, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- There is a remained dispute for using this emblem, it is considering undue weight as discussed per above. Absolutiva 13:28, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
Maritime border with Ireland
@ImChessFan21, what is the source of your claim that France shares a maritime border with the Republic of Ireland? Largoplazo (talk) 23:52, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

- Huh? They don't have one on any map I found showing the maritime borders in that area. Whether you think they "could", as though this were a guessing game, is irrelevant. Largoplazo (talk) 22:35, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

Short Description is not short
In many country articles, the short description is intended to provide only key details. However, France’s description goes beyond geography and government and includes premodern historical context, resulting in a total of 13 sentences. In comparison, articles for the United States, the United Kingdom, and China each contain only 5 sentences in their descriptions. If feasible, France’s premodern history could be moved to a separate paragraph, allowing for a shorter and more consistent description. MMrWbhHK (talk) 05:39, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
- "Country primarily in Western Europe" is what it is now. I don't know what you were looking at. The first para of the lead was too long, so i've put in a break, that I think was there before recent to-and-fro edits. Johnbod (talk) 11:30, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
Map of Countries
Norway is not portrayed as an EU country. It is not light green. Norway may be an EU country. The map, therefore, may need to be corrected. ~2026-24527-93 (talk) 19:07, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

Can you put a FAQ box explaining the coat of arms of France?
For people to understand the situation better. France has no official coat of arms, but the situation needs to be explained to the curious and dummies. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 18:52, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Template:Edit semi-protected Change "In 1940, France was invaded and quickly defeated by Nazi Germany." to "France joined WW2. In 1940, France was invaded and quickly defeated by Nazi Germany." or something like this as it shows that the article is now talking about WW2, where the article only talks about WW1 before this. Sorry, not good at writing, should be reworded. Jmatt245 (talk) 19:47, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
