Black Mountain (Rollercoaster)
Black Mountain is a rollercoaster located at Clarks Summit Park. It is stylised after anomalies and set in a fictionalised version of Raven’s Black Mountain headquarters. It incorporates a massive “topside” above-ground part with a near-300m drop, and then curves nearly another 200m underground as it enters the “descent” section of the facility. A holographic projection system is used to simulate the visual effects of manifold distortion. It features many inversions and Raven turns, and is considered one of the highest rollercoasters on Earth.
Two months after its opening, Raven attempted to sue Terminal Thrill Parks for trademark violations. However, a judge ruled the ride constituted fair use as a satirical premise and the organisation had no choice but to back down, which came as a surprise loss for Raven’s usually indomitable legal team.
