The Knowledge War was a civil war in the London Underground City between members of the Science Sector and Command and Control over worries the city was simply stagnating in its technological progress, in addition to disagreements over the allocation of food and resources.

The war resulted in large numbers of casualties on both sides, with greater losses from the Science Sector, as Hydroponics sections B-4 and B-5 were critically damaged, and Sector E - Industrial was bombed, rendering the secondary nuclear reactor used by Science useless.
