A flying bus was a type of airborne vehicle prototyped by British Aerospace around 2005, during the Technology Craze. It was a regular bus retrofitted with two turbofan engines, featuring folding wings integrated into the floor of the vehicle, ensuring the ability to drive unimpeded on normal roads. They were also envisioned taking off and landing at specialised bus stations known as busports which contained runways. Only one prototype was ever built, after which the program was scrapped due to numerous concerns, including noise, safety, financial inviability, and the restriction to short flight times; it was later labelled by many as a "crackpot idea". The prototype was later auctioned off, and won by a bus driver known as Anton, who later caused a massive amount of havoc when he took off in the bus.
