Furry Convention
A furry convention (also furry con or fur con) is a formal gathering of members of the furry fandom. Because of the normalisation of anthros in human society, furry conventions are now treated as more general social events, focused around anthropomorphic arts, transhumanist sciences, and the queer community. Humanity’s largest furry convention is Furnomaly, which takes place at the Furnomaly Complex, a purpose-built arcology-sized convention centre, in Hellas City, Mars.
The growth of fur cons has also been substantial; whereas cons once leased hotels for a weekend, nowadays cons have grown so large they often take over metropolitan areas and continue for weeks at a time. This has also resulted in a boom in the events industry, as demands began to surge to build immensely large hotels and convention centres rivalling that of small cities. Cons also reflect the technological diversity of the wider world; for example, at the dealers’ den, bioscientists and engineers will often offer “body commissions” - the creation of a tailored gene editing programme to match the customer’s self-image, and this is considered an art, much like fursuit design.
