A hypercapacitor is an extremely dense energy storage device with an exofluid electrolyte at its core. Hypercapacitors deliver very high energy densities and rapid discharge rates, and find many uses across modern human society, including in the initiation of fusion, the striking of bridge generators, and in powerful relativistic railguns. The proliferation of of hypercapacitor technology in the 2180s was spurred by the recent industrial exofluidics revolution, enabled by amendments to the Dimensional Security Accords.

Despite the high density of hypercapacitors, they remain unsuitable for applications with truly ludicrous energy requirements, such as compressing matter to create artificial singularities. It is for this reason that Neutronium Electron Lattice (NEL) cells were later developed, though the realities of their expense ensured hypercapacitors remained the dominant technology for the majority of applications.
