Listening Post

Listening posts were installations within the Girvan Offshore Science Facility (GOSF) used for structural monitoring. They were fitted with large arrays of acoustic sensors in order to determine cavern instability. Most of the listening posts were present in the Arctarus and Reactus sectors, due to their depths. The intention of the listening posts was to predict instability before a collapse, and allow time for the affected cavern areas to be reinforced. The listening posts served a dual role for Alan Clayton, who utilised them to detect and avoid the movements of sapient anomalies during his stranding underground.
