Grey Mold

The Grey Mold, also known by its designation REX-100, was a fast-replicating, mold-like organism originating from a distal dimension. The release of the Grey Mold at the Rosenberg Centre for Dimensional Physics triggered the First Incursion as it rapidly spread across Earth, consuming matter. Behaviourally, the Grey Mold exhibited similarities to species of Earth-based fungi; however, its biology was completely distinct. It was silicon instead of carbon-based. Its defining feature was its ability to rapidly utilise ingested matter for self-replication on a timescale not seen in any Earth lifeforms.
