The "Venetian City", also known as the "Vesuvian City", was an underground city below Montreal, built in a series of large open rock caverns, in the style of contemporary New York architecture. It was used to house Nevrin personnel conducting expeditions to an unknown mining site below.

The use of the city came to an abrupt end when an event referred to as "The Incident" occurred, when the huge fluid-uranium reactor supplying energy to the city suffered a catastrophic meltdown for unknown reasons. The entire population was immediately evacuated, and did not return. If one dared to venture down to the level of the city, the dark cavern and blocks would be illuminated by a glowing orange backdrop, as the fiery molten fuel continued to burn.

Despite being classified as a city, the Venetian City in actuality only had a footprint as large as fifteen square surface blocks. The city's area was marked on the surface by a suspended chain of floating lights, which still remain in place to the current day. The city was only accessible via "Depth" elevators, which would transport both employees and operational cargo to and from the deep level. After the incident, all but one remaining elevator was sealed off. The final elevator is located deep within the Canadian Financial Centre building near the Centre Bell.
