K-Lock V100
The K-Lock is a bitted mechanical lock designed by Krocera Locks & Doors designed for critical security for systems such as nuclear launch authentication controllers. The key is cruciform, with the 4 sides each having 16 bits that each have eight depth levels, and additionally a concentric magnetic slider system with four sliders that each have eight positions. This results in a key space of 8^68, or roughly 2.9*10^61.
Due to the way the lock works, each pin must slide in in the correct order into the lock cylinder. Any misplacement will cause the lock to enter a permanent mechanical lockout state, destroying it if picking is attempted. To further increase security, the lock can be equipped with a digital key exchange system, using Rainstorm Access Control (RAC), which allows electromechanical blocking of the cylinder until authentication completes and can also provide both the cryptographic and mechanical positioning information to a weapons system controller, effectively functioning like a mechanical code unit.
