The Channel Islands War was a short conflict that took place between the Channel Islands and France after the fragmentation of the United Kingdom caused by the Independence Wars and the London Revolution. The French government invaded and occupied the islands in 2055 under the pretence of European security, with the intent of constructing a large military airbase on Guernsey. Some members of the local population fought back, but most accepted the occupation peacefully. However, in 2056, a group of around 50 lawyers living on the Islands banded together to attempt to prove the illegality of the French occupation under international law in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This resulted in a successful victory for the islanders, who later formed an economic coalition with Ireland.
