Gridform Mitigation Unit

A Gridform Mitigation Unit (GFMU) is a hybrid technological-biological system that incorporates an engineered gridform in order to attack and destroy hostile gridforms without isolating the grid or using heavy weaponry that could cause collateral damage. They are manufactured by BioCorp and primarily used by Raven. GFMUs usually consist of an external effluent tank (on stilts outside the truck for safety reasons), as well as a tractor unit with four semi-trailers: a grinding unit, a pumping unit, a gridform interface unit (GIU, which acts as the technobiological interface to the engineered gridform), and the fourth, which carries the engineered gridform itself which is constructed to fit to the shape of a standard trailer.

Mechanism

When a GFMU is activated in search of a hostile gridform, its biological component seeks out the gridform and attacks it using its instinctual predatory capabilities. If successful, it drains it of fluid and sucks its remains through the gridform interface unit and into the engineered parts of the trailer, which reduces them to a viscous blue fluid that is deposited in the effluent tank. This fluid remains a biohazard and must be transported to a facility for final neutralisation and disposal, but is removed of all interaction with the Controlled Substratic Grid (CSG). Once the task of the engineered gridform is complete, it is biologically programmed to self-destruct, preventing it from malfunctioning or turning on its creators.
