The World Küiser Corporation, otherwise known as the WKC, was a cult-like, ethically bankrupt offshoot of the Biological Research department of Küiser Laboratories. Led by Robert White, its members originated from an unofficial Küiser faction called the "Free Radicals"; scientists who wanted to pursue biological ascension no matter the cost to life. This ideology later became known as biofascism.

With its laboratory headquarters located in the city formerly known as New York, the splinter cell used its political leverage on the American East Coast to incite a far-right civil war backed by its own private military forces in 2031, which became known as the Last Stand War, forming a puppet state known as New Sublantica that gained control of the region. The WKC, along with New Sublantica, collapsed during the Revolution War in 2063.

History

Formation

Küiser's Biological Research department was formed in the early 2000s as part of the company's expansion to the United States. Quickly becoming one of the most prominent pharmaceutical companies on the East Coast, it manufactured critical drugs such as synthetic insulin, immune suppressants, anticoagulants, and chemotherapy agents.

Behind the scenes, however, the department's activities were far more controversial, with secret ongoing development of biological weapons and illegal human experiments being carried out. This began to create a divide between the department and Küiser leadership in the United Kingdom, who called for its practices to stop, threatening their exposure to US authorities.

Human Experimentation

With the city of New York under their control, the WKC began indiscriminately abducting homeless or vulnerable people from the streets and experimenting on them at the WKC Biological Weapons Facility in the Catskill Mountains. Participants would be heavily drugged into compliance or manipulated into thinking they were being cured of terminal disease before being experimented on.

Though most subjects died as a result of the experiments, some survived and either managed to escape or bribe personnel to be let free. Those who were voluntarily released were administered amnestics to prevent any retention of knowledge about the facility, but due to the use of toxic tranquilliser drugs in the experiments most still effectively had a death sentence. WKC human experimentation remains one of the worst crimes against humanity ever committed by a scientific corporation, and is often written about in history books.

Deterioration

In the later days of New Sublantica's existence, society in the country was quickly deteriorating. Public infrastructure was rapidly breaking down due to lack of maintenance, and the WKC took a heavy-handed approach to quell an angry populace, including the use of lethal force at protests and the inducement of illegal, carcinogenic mind control drugs into municipal water supplies.

Despite this, the regime's days were numbered. In 2063, a group of revolutionaries managed to board the WKC Haven Command Platform - a space station which hosted the C-suite that puppeted New Sublantica from the shadows, and was armed with nuclear weapons and a Nevrin-54 neurotoxin cannon, serving as another deterrent against uprisings. Using a hijacked spacevator that'd been left abandoned at a biological weapons facility, the group succeeded in sabotaging the platform's neurotoxin dispatch system, setting it on a path to destruction.

Revolution War

In retaliation, the WKC's CEO aboard the platform - Dr. Robert White - activated its nuclear launch system, targeting all US states, as well as New Sublantica itself in a bizarrely suicidal move. Unbeknownst to him, a Texan military spacecraft patrolling the region detected the launch, which momentarily disabled the platform's cloaking. It took this opportunity to fire upon the platform, causing it to begin to deorbit, while the revolutionaries were able to escape at the last second using the platform's last remaining escape pods.

The mangled remnants of the platform landed in an uninhabited region of Sublantica-17 where they caused a large explosion. The destruction of the command structure sparked a bloody civil war, with many people fleeing the country until only loyalists were left. The war ended after Texas struck targets including the WKC’s headquarters in Sublantica-17 with thermonuclear weapons, killing the majority of remaining loyalists and rendering most areas in the region uninhabitable by organic life. Many citizens of New Sublantica were subsequently taken in as refugees by surrounding American states.

Post-Revolution War

After the success of the Revolution War, the WKC was pushed out of New Sublantica, but still maintained many hidden military enclaves. Without a common point of leadership, they became fragmented into many small groups, and eventually their own objectives began to diverge.

At some point in the late 21st Century, Raven began investigatory and cleanup work in parts of the region in an effort to render it safe after alleged sightings of anomalies. These sightings were never confirmed nor denied. As of the present day, the entire region remains both chemically and radiologically toxic; it is one of the most dangerous and hostile areas on Earth.
