CityComms
CityComms is a subsidiary of InterTeck, founded in the 2130s as a joint venture between InterTeck and the Greater London Council. The company was created to bolster the reliability of the city’s critical infrastructure in the wake of extreme weather stemming from the Climate Crisis, and to spin off some of InterTeck’s existing services that were to facilitate it under increased state ownership. Key products brought under the CityComms umbrella were Project Fortify, a new decentralised disaster-ready communications system designed to survive high levels of electromagnetic radiation, and Project Shelter, an initiative to design, build, and deploy the first generation of public terminals across London to allow people to shelter and call for aid during storms. Most other cities in the Thames Republic purchase equipment and services from CityComms, though their adoption was initially less rapid due to their less urgent needs.
