Portal Management System

From Calamity Wiki

A portal management system (PMS) is a technology developed by Metatron's Exophysics division to manage a large number of portals to enable efficient traversal of a facility, usually via ion units. The PMS balances power between all portals based on demand, and automatically shuts off unused portals using motion sensors to conserve energy. The Northbrook Portal Disaster (2255) was caused due to a malfunctioning portal management system, which crashed during a high-traffic period, closing all currently open portals and leaving several students stuck between the thresholds of the site's Ion Units.
