Dimensions, in relation to the study of dimensional physics, are variations of universes, which can be thought of as nodes in a massive graph. The further one moves away from their current dimension (along the edges of the node graph), the more different the dimensions become to the original dimension. Moving along the graph in different directions changes the aspects in which the dimensions are different.

Dimensions have the same physical laws and three-dimensional coordinate system, no matter where along the axis they are. Pocket Dimensions can be thought of as nodes in the graph with no connections, existing independently while continuing to obey the laws of their parent universe. The primary dimension that the plot takes place in is known as Sagol.

Travel

The only method of travel between dimensions is via the use of a dimensional bridge. The previous node graph analogy is a simplification of the connections between dimensions; in reality, T-Space must be traversed to travel between them, which requires quantum computers (targeting computers) that perform complex calculations to calculate the trajectory.

When creating a bridge between dimensions, both sides of the bridge are located in exactly the same location in three-dimensional space in both dimensions, making dimensional travel ineffective as a rapid method of interstellar travel. Dimensional travel can be used as a way to bypass walls and forcefields, which is why manifold stabilisers and grid control arrays are used to defend against "bridging into" secure facilities such as Black Mountain.

History

For millennia, the closest dimensions to Sagol stayed in perfect alignment. Their divergence began in the late 21st Century, when humanity first began experimenting with bridge technology. The first entrances made by Sagol inhabitants into their sibling dimensions (and vice versa) set into motion a chain of events that resulted in the dimensions being knocked slightly out of alignment, and the butterfly effect served to amplify this divergence as the years went on.

Examples

  • Depth D-0 - SAGOL - Our dimension. There is nothing special about Sagol other than the fact that we are present in it.
  • Depth D-1 - IKECHOL - Very similar to our dimension, established dimensional travel, has a version of Raven, but is lesser developed
  • Depth D-2 - TACHLAT - Similar to our dimension, established dimensional travel, but instead of Raven being in power, a different organisation is, for example, the CEAA or Aegis Institute
  • Depth D-3 - SIDINE - Humanity hasn’t discovered dimensional travel yet but is on the verge of doing so; they have many of the existing scientific advances
  • Depth D-4 - SHOHEM - Humanity has been destroyed by anomalies
  • Depth D-5 YARKAN - Humanity is slightly more advanced than the real world, lots of companies are different or missing, very different geopolitics
  • Depth D-6 TZIAN - Very similar to the real world
  • Depth D-7 TZAHOV - Humans look different, different evolutionary path etc, societal differences
  • Depth D-8 KHATOM - Humans look even more different, major societal differences
  • Depth D-9 ADOMINE - Humans look alien but are still bipedal, society is unrecognisable
  • Depth D-10+ ARGAMAN - Non-bipedal/very alien, society is unrecognisable
