Karl Becker (9 February 1964 – 22 December 2015) was a medical physicist who briefly worked for Nevrin's Section G-1, stationed at the Girvan Offshore Science Facility (GOSF), who managed to survive the Island Containment Breach. He pioneered methods to treat the effects of entropic radiation (E-rad) on organic life forms, and together with Antony Koleshiv, he pioneered the first public E-rad theories.

History

Karl graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Medical Physics from the University of Glasgow in 1991; later the same year, he was recruited by Nevrin, and began working in the GOSF's Arctarus Sector, analysing the effects of entropic radiation on organic life forms, and developing a paper on how to treat victims of E-rad exposure. His paper was almost complete when the Island Containment Breach threw his life into chaos; he was one of the few employees that managed to escape the facility with their lives intact, due to being stationed in Exertus, not Arctarus, at the time of the breach.

Karl's own exposure to entropic radiation in the breach left him physically scarred. After he escaped the facility, he attempted to tell the world about what had happened, but few believed him. He managed to finish his paper at the Imperial College London in 2002. He later shared his findings with Antony Koleshiv at the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology and collaborated with him to develop the first public thesis on E-rad. In the following decades, he married and had a son, William Becker, to whom he passed down much of his research. His health began to decline sharply in 2013, attributed to his own severe e-rad exposure, which even he lacked the skills to solve. He passed away in 2015.
