Nevrin/Societal Research Division
The Societal Research Division (SRD) was a major division of Nevrin, led by Dr. Hans-Schmitt Werner, tasked with investigating how societies would function in unique scenarios, such as in complete isolation from the outside world. The ambitious goal of the division was to prepare humanity to break new frontiers, such as establishing deep-space and underwater colonies, and to develop strategies to overcome the societal and logistical hardships of such ambitions. The most ambitious of the SRD's experiments was the London Underground City, which sealed 50,000 volunteers in a secret closed-loop environment below London. In parallel, the experiments also allowed Nevrin to develop cutting-edge deep earth excavation technology, and conduct geological surveys into the surrounding terrain.
The SRD realised its goal of creating a fully functional closed-loop society with the London Underground City, but ultimately never saw its research be used in any non-experimental application as the company collapsed before its findings could be shared with the wider scientific community.
