Transhumanism
Transhumanism is a key tenet of human society in the Calamity Multiverse. Humanity has mastered not only the art of genetic and biological modification through systems such as spatial cell control and heuristic DNA editing, but also the creation of completely artificial bodies based on robotics and synthetic intelligence technology. People are no longer defined by the bodies they were born into; now nearly everyone has freedom of form. Cyborgs, synthetics, biopunks, and unmodified humans live together as one.
The culture of transhumanism originated primarily from the furry fandom in the 21st Century, and rose to widespread popularity in the early 2030s when TransForm used DNA splicing technology to merge humanoid bodies with animal traits, creating anthros. The biopunk subculture, riding on the edge of what was possible, later took modification a step further, adding traits that were seen as negative or repulsive by the rest of society.
