Dunwich
Dunwich City is the centre of the Northern European International Zone (NEIZ), near the former parish of Suffolk. Partially built on reclaimed land after oceanic erosion and the climate crisis destroyed most of the original town, it is the diplomatic centre for all matters of exophysics and dimensional security, and is prominently home to both the International Centre for Dimensional Research (ICDR) and Black Mountain.
The city is relatively low-rise, but is economically flush due to its political importance. It has a direct rail route to London Liverpool Street via the Southern Exclusion Zone, permitted via special treaty. The nearby cities of Thropeness and Aldeburgh are also closely tied to it, fulfilling the important role of housing for many Raven and IRTO employees, as well as for visiting diplomats.
Governance
Dunwich City is funded and administered directly by the Coalition, as provisioned in amendments to the Dimensional Security Accords. It has no independent council as such. Transport and logistics facilitated by outside nations and organisations, such as rail links to the Thames Republic, are facilitated by treaty under cost sharing arrangements.
Security
The city has no police force of its own. Instead, security is maintained by Raven's military, operating under the direction of the Coalition. As there is no concept of citizenship in the zone, individuals suspected of a crime are typically expelled and prosecuted in their home state.
Energy
Dunwich primarily receives its power from the Sizewell nuclear power plant, with fission units C1 and C2, as well as the new compact fission reactors D1 and D2, in operation as of 2100. Unit E, a tokamak fusion reactor in a fortified underground bunker, provides dedicated power to Black Mountain as of 2150. The city also receives grid feeds from the rest of Great Britain, including the neighbouring International Scientific Enclave, as well as an underwater feed via Norway under the North Sea for redundancy.
