The expression military-industrial-scientific complex describes a type of industrial relationship in human society that began to rise to prominence with the popularisation advent of exophysics and the formation of organisations such as Raven and the Interdimensional Research Treaty Organisation (IRTO). It has seen the emergence of megacorporations, often previously defence contractors, which fulfil all three aspects of the “MIS triangle”: providing the infrastructure for dimensional physics, providing the scientific apparatus, and arming the protectors of such physics (Raven, and governments). The exceedingly high cost of entry to the field, as well as regulatory restrictions and requirements placed on staff members (such as the acquisition of a Raven security clearance) has hindered the arrival of new players, and solidified the position of existing megacorporations.

A popular belief in the public consciousness is that the MIS complex is an industry that self-perpetuates from disasters; i.e. the very companies that cause said disasters are the ones to profit when they sell the solutions to their own problems. Almost every megacorporation that participates in the MIS complex is guilty of this to some extent, even if not intentionally. It has led public sector organisations such as Raven to attempt to reduce their reliance on external contractors by producing their own in-house technology, though this has only been partially successful. The largest members of the MIS complex include Paradigm, CORE Group, Voima Tech Industries, Helios Corporation, Metatron, and Pacific Industrial Science
