WKC Biological Weapons Facility

The WKC Biological Weapons Facility (BWF) was a WKC research facility located high in the Catskill Mountains. The facility conducted human experiments and research on lethal neurotoxins during the WKCNE project, including Nevrin-54, in order to weaponise them for enhanced control over the civilian population. In the present day, the BWF is both partially collapsed and waterlogged, and has gradually started to be reclaimed by nature.

The BWF was the WKC’s flagship bioscience laboratory, and was where they conducted the majority of their gruesome human experimentation, probing and studying the genome in the hopes of creating an ultimate biological life-form. Participants were often homeless or vulnerable individuals abducted off the streets.

History

Containment Breach

At some point during the gradual decline of New Sublantica, a catastrophic incident occurred at the facility, causing a containment breach. This forced its complete abandonment by the WKC. According to logs recovered from the facility, an anomalous entity which had a degree of control over electromagnetic fields and was also able to melt metal broke through every blast door and killed all personnel in its path. The nature and status of this entity is unknown, even to Raven.

Rediscovery

After the containment breach, the entirety of the area was left abandoned until a team of revolutionaries entered the facility on their journey to the WKC Haven Command Platform during the events of the Revolution War. The still partially functioning facility contained three Spacevators as emergency escape shuttles, which the team used to get to the platform after defeating a body double of the CEO.
