Deletion

Deletion, known scientifically as terminal negation and sometimes "nullifaction", is the permanent destruction of both an entity’s physical body and their consciousness in The Substrate. This can be accomplished with a small number of incredibly rare exophysical devices with the power to destroy substratic networks, such as The Nullifactor and the Null Driver. The very act of deletion in of itself can destabilise adjacent networks, resulting in damage to local manifolds or other entities in close substratic proximity, making it intrinsically hazardous and likely to result in collateral damage.

Deletion is considered to be a "fate worse than death" since it is irrevocably permanent, but entities with an exceptionally resilient consciousness can occasionally subvert it and survive in the Substrate as a severed entity. This can even occasionally result in the catastrophic destruction of the substratic interface performing the attack.
