Cypher Prism M31-Y42 is an ex-Calamity Mitigation combat synthetic, originally recruited and rebuilt into the Archangel Program. Cypher defected during the Black Research mutiny, after discovering the Seraphim Project and setting the anomalies created as part of it free. Equipped with cutting-edge anomaly defence technology from the 23rd century and a substratic weapon called Excision integrated into their body, Cypher is one of the only individuals to go up against Exon in direct melee combat and survive. Cypher now works as head ambassador of the Species Equality Movement, successfully mediating a negotiation between Raven and the Anomaly Rights Coalition to grant the first rights to sapient anomalies.

Cypher presents as a 8'1" tall anthro digitigrade visor-type synthetic with a unified design language, incorporating purple accents against dark black and grey panels. Their large angular purple ears house both high-gain antennas connected to powerful radio transceivers and air radiative heat exchangers to allow them to stay cool. Like the Metatron-designed Vertex frames, Cypher is also equipped with fractal armour plates to protect critical system areas. However, they substitute a standard forcefield system with a nanobot alternative known as Adaptive Nanomachine Regenerative Armour (ANRA-2).

Personality

Before their defection from Raven, Cypher was a loyal, smart, and cocky Calamity Mitigation operative. They were given a mild degree of narcissism due to their special status as an Archangel prototype among their peers, and this same status allowed them to receive a mere slap on the wrist for doing things standard CMI operatives would be seriously disciplined or even terminated for, such as breaking protocol to carry out operations their own way. They cared for their team members, and went to great lengths to prevent harm from coming to them in battle, even though they were on notable occasions after engagements forced to make peace with the fact they were the last operative standing in the fireteam. They also openly displayed a degree of nihilism that they expressed through black humour, which stemmed from a personal belief that nothing they are doing will really change things. They liked to project an aura of confidence, but secretly harboured insecurities about how much of their talents they truly earned given their special status.

After their defection, Cypher's personality changed notably. They realised anomalies were individuals that could be reasoned with, and this made their perspective on the world change. But it also made them completely disillusioned with Raven's power structures. Their separation from the institution acted as a wakeup call for them; the very organisation that prized them as a special asset and made them feel special was now against them. This made them gain a degree of humility, and forced them to figure out how to live and fend for themselves without Raven.
