Spacevator
Appearance
The spacevator was a "space elevator" system created by British Aerospace, which was designed for short journeys into the upper atmosphere in order to get to space stations. The small pods, designed to accommodate no more than three people, were powered by advanced solid fuel rockets and had short-term onboard life support systems. Controlled by an automatic guidance system downloading targeting data remotely, they had no flight controls to save on space and weight.
