Private Military Corporation
A Private Military Corporation (PMC) is a corporation that effectively functions as a private army, providing services often to anyone who can pay for them. PMCs are frequently employed by megacorporations that do not employ their own military divisions. Prominent PMCs include Aphelion Securities Group, Black Glass Group, the Van Balens, and Blackstar Operations. They provide a diverse range of services, including facility defence, close protection, capture and retrieval, surveillance, and counterintelligence. Some PMCs are highly professional and always act in their customers' best interests; others are less so and leverage their position as security provider in order to exert control over the corporations they protect.
The majority of PMCs act under the guise of defensive operations in order to feign legality, but in reality almost all PMCs carry out operations that are highly illegal, and are very skilled in masking their activities. PMCs also often employ expert legal teams in order to defend themselves and their clients from prosecution should an operation be intercepted.
