Manifold Compressor

A manifold compressor is a device that changes the relative physical size and density of one manifold to another. Essentially, it can shrink the apparent physical size of an area while preserving the integrity of its contents, though there are certain limitations to how dense a manifold can become before it turns into a micro black hole. Its primary developer in the Coalition is Metatron.

Compressors must be constantly powered; any unexpected power loss results in an explosive decompression and likely absolute destruction of the surrounding area. They also cannot be sent through bridge or wormhole thresholds: this causes warping and spaghettification of the matter followed by violent threshold collapse.

Applications

Manifold compressors are often used for logistics where the cost of space outweighs the extreme cost of the technology itself: these situations include food and fuel storage for long-distance space colonisation efforts as well as ore transportation in deep space mining.
