Nevrin-54

From Calamity Wiki

Nevrin-54 was an industrial pesticide originally developed by Nevrin in the 1950s. The compound was a nerve agent with unique infectious properties used to disrupt the nervous systems of insects. The agent would use simple protein replication to spread. It was most often dispersed as a dense red gas that would hang near the ground in fields. In human, it would gradually cause delirium and brain death over several weeks' time. This led to its use being banned internationally in the late 1990s.

The compound was later used by the World Küiser Corporation (WKC) as part of the WKCNE biological weapons project. The WKC used its pathogenic properties to develop a variant that would spread between individuals, lying dormant in their nervous systems until intentionally "triggered". Due to the agent's exceptionally small particulate size, normal respirators did not suffice to protect against it, and cleanup crews in conflict zones were required to wear SCBAs.
