Blackstar Operations is one of the largest private military corporations operating in deep space and is frequently employed by large megacorporations like BioCorp, Paradigm, and CORE Group. Due to its reputation and combat doctrine, some megacorps outright refuse to deal with it. The corporation is known for operating outside interstellar law, and employs a number of underhanded tactics to avoid prosecution. It has its own fleet, as well as numerous starbases, colonies, and weaponry R&D facilities, making it sovereign and capable of functioning independently.
Conflict
Blackstar as an organisation has become so powerful that it rivals even the state militaries of some nations, which has led the Coalition to place it on its "Red List". Technically, since it has been declared a terrorist organisation, corporations headquartered on Coalition planets and colonies are barred from dealings with it; but there are ways to circumvent this.
Some have called for the declaration of war on Blackstar as a whole by Coalition forces, however this has been blocked at the parliamentary level multiple times by corporate lobbyists. Campaigners have also called for Raven to take action against Blackstar, which has released an official statement condemning the organisation while claiming their crimes fall outside its area of legal jurisdiction.
